Congress President Rahul Gandhi's nomination from his home turf, Amethi, was declared valid by the returning officer on Monday, 22 April, clearing way for Gandhi to contest Lok Sabha polls from the UP seat again.
This comes after Gandhi's nomination was disputed by the ruling BJP over discrepancies in his election affidavit, relating to educational qualifications and citizenship.
Addressing the gathering during his Amethi rally, Gandhi reiterated the promises from the party's manifesto, including women’s reservation, relief for farmers, and Amethi becoming a centre for education.
The Congress president also kept up his attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that PM Modi has stolen from the pubic and handed the money to corporates like Anil Ambani, hinting at the alleged corruption in the Rafale deal.
