With a sweeping win in Punjab, AAP has made its maiden victory in the state. The party has won 92 seats out of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly. Meanwhile, Congress could only manage to win three seats.
Bhagwant Mann, who won the Dhuri seat with a margin of 58206 votes, is set to become Punjab's next Chief Minister.
Several of the opposition heavyweights including INC's Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu, former CM Capt Amarinder Singh, SAD's Parkash Singh Badal have lost from their respective constituencies.

The Punjab Congress, which is expected to come in second in what is likely to be a close contest with the AAP, had seen long-drawn internal frictions within its state unit.
Both Charanjit Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu vied to become the chief ministerial face for the Punjab Assembly elections 2022, with the Congress top brass choosing the former.
Before that, Captain Amarinder Singh, the then chief minister, had formally resigned from the Congress party in November amid a feud with Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The counting of votes for Punjab Assembly elections will start at 8 am at 117 centres at 66 locations in the state.
AAP leader Bhagwant Mann visited gurudwara Gursagar Mastuana Sahib in Sangrur early on Thursday morning, ahead of Punjab Assembly election results. He told reporters that he is confident of victory in the elections.
The Punjab chief electoral officer has said that Section 144 has been imposed in all districts to prevent crowds at counting centres, and victory processions are banned.
The Aam Aadmi Party has led most exit polls by a wide margin, and is likely to land a sweeping victory in the state, which has 117 seats.
The AAP is projected to win 76-90 seats in the Punjab, while the Congress is forecasted to win 19-31, as per the India Today-India My Axis poll results.
As per the News24-Today's Chanakya exit polls, the AAP is expected to win Punjab with a landslide majority of 100 seats.
The counting of votes for 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly began at 8 am on Thursday, 10 March.
As counting of votes continues for Punjab, the INC and the SAD are each leading in one seat as of 8:08 am.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh, who has garnered 28,231 votes as of 1:00 pm as per the EC, is trailing behind the AAP's Ajit Pal Singh Kohli in Patiala Urban, who has 48,104 votes.
The AAP's CM candidate Bhagwant Mann nears victory in Dhuri with 82,023 votes, nearly 60,000 more than the Congress's Dalvir Singh Goldy. Mann has garnered 64.23 percent of the votes, as per EC data.

AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema has won the Dirba seat by a huge margin of 50,000 votes.
The AAP's chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann has said that he will take oath as the CM in Bhagat Singh's village Khatkarkalan, not at the Raj Bhawan.
He further said that no government office will have the CM's photos, adding that there will be pictures of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar instead, ANI reported.

"They played big games to ensure that any party comes to power except AAP. Even called me a terrorist. Today, the people of Punjab have told them Kejriwal is not a terrorist. They are the terrorists who loot the people of India," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, addressing a press conference.
As the Congress party put up a poor performance in Punjab, party leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted saying, "Humbly accept the people’s verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate."
Thanking his party workers he said, "We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India."
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal said his party accepts the people's mandate "whole-heartedly" and "with total humility".
Congress' Charanjit Singh Channi lost to AAP's Labh Singh Ugoke in Bhadaur with 21.09 percent of votes.
In Chamkaur Sahib, he narrowly lost to AAP's Charanjit Singh with 42.22 percent votes.
Following his defeat, Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi congratulated AAP's Bhagwant Mann for his victory.
"I hope they will deliver on the expectations of people," he wrote on Twitter.
In Mansa, AAP’s Dr Vijay Singla defeated INC’s Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moose Wala by a wide margin.
INC candidate and actor Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood, who was up against AAP’s Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora in Moga, lost the seat with only 26.51 percent votes.
SAD supremo and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal lost to AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Khudian from his traditional Lambi seat in Punjab’s Muktsar district, by a margin of 11,396 votes.
Dedicating his thumping victory to Bhagat Singh and Ambedkar, AAP's CM candidate Bhagwant Mann wrote on Twitter, "This fatwa of victory given by the revolutionary people of Dhuri is dedicated to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji and Babasaheb Ambedkar Ji".
The former chief minister also congratulated the BJP over the party's performance in the other states where counting is underway.
With results declared for a majority of seats in Punjab, AAP is all set to form the government having secured 89 seats so far. The party is leading in a further three seats. Congress, meanwhile, is far behind having won just 15 seats and leading in 3 more.
BJP and SAD have secured two and three seats respectively.
The counting of votes is still ongoing in Baba Bakala, Budhlada, Dina Nagar, Raja Sansi, Ludhiana Central constituencies.
Addressing a crowd of supporters outside his house in Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann standing alongside his mother Harpal Kaur and sister Manpreet Kaur promised a wave of change.
"Now you will not have to go to the offices of government employees. Government officers won’t hinder your work by making excuses. Now the public servants will come to your houses and localities to do their job,” he said.
After defeating SAD's Sukhbir Singh Badal from Jalalabad, AAP's Jagdeep Kamboj promised a focus on education, electricity and water.
