Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Manipuri capital of Imphal to campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally there, he vowed that if the BJP comes to power in Manipur, the party will end economic blockades completely.
He said he was the only Prime Minister since Morarji Desai to travel to the North-East and attend the North Eastern Council meeting.
He added that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the prime minister, he made policies for the development of the North-East, but the Congress government in the state did not follow through.
He recalled that in 2014 when he was campaigning, the rally at the same place hardly had people. “Today it’s packed with a crowd,” he said as proof.
