Even though the campaign trail has ended, here’s a compilation of the fiery political jibes and comebacks exchanged between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress (INC) in Madhya Pradesh during election campaign.
Altogether 74.61 percent voters exercised their franchise in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections on Wednesday, 28 November, witnessing a rise of around two percent compared to the previous polls.
The figure may go up, state Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao said. In the 2013 Assembly polls, it was 72.69 percent, he added.
The state has 5,04,95,251 voters – 2,63,01,300 males, 2,41,30,390 females, 1,389 third gender and 62,172 postal electors.
The BJP contested from all the 230 seats, while the Congress fielded 229 candidates, leaving one seat, Jatara in Tikamgarh district, for its ally LJD.
The BSP fielded 227 candidates, while the SP is contesting from 51 seats.
The Aam Aadmi Party, contesting the Madhya Pradesh elections for the first time, fielded 208 candidates.
