After multiple rounds of recounting, Bharatiya Janata Party's CK Ramamurthy won in Bengaluru's Jayanagar constituency with 16 votes.
Ramamurthy got 57,797 votes winning with a narrow margin against Congress's Sowmya Reddy who got 57,781 votes.
The result was announced after multiple rounds of recounting amid protests by the Congress and the BJP at the R V Institute of Management in Jayanagar assembly constituency in Bengaluru.
While Sowmya was declared the winner around 7 pm, with a marginal lead of 180 votes, party workers claimed that there is a discrepancy in the votes counted.
Karnataka Congress party chief DK Shivakumar and a few senior leaders like Ramalinga Reddy were also present on ground. Congress MP DK Suresh tried to barge into the counting centre in Jayanagar and ended up in angry exchange with police officers who stopped him.
BJP leader Tejasvi Surya and CK Ramamurthy were also outside the counting centre in Jayanagar.
