An FIR has been registered against BJP’s Bhopal candidate for her controversial remark on Babri Masjid demolition.
“Pragya Singh Thakur was issued notice by district election officer for her comment on Babri Masjid's demolition and her response to it was not satisfactory. Therefore, FIR has been registered against her for violation of model code of conduct, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, SDM Bhopal, told news agency ANI.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday alleged that the Congress and the Left are working together to help the BJP in the ongoing LS polls so that Narendra Modi could become the prime minister again, reported news agency PTI.

Election Commission has withdrawn its statement on filing two FIRs against Union Minister Babul Supriyo, reported news agency ANI. “Suo moto complaint was filed by Andal Police for preventing Police officials from carrying out their duty during Supriyo's campaign on Sunday,” the EC said now.
Earlier it was reported that EC has registered two FIRs against Supriyo for continuing to play campaign song despite denial of permission by EC and for snatching the camera of an EC official who was video recording his rally.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will hold two rallies in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, 23 April to campaign for his party's Lok Sabha poll candidates in the state.
He will address a public meeting in Shahdol district between 3 pm to 4 pm and later hold another rally at Sehora town in Jabalpur district, Congress' state unit general secretary Rajiv Singh said.
The Shahdol constituency is reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes while the Jabalpur Lok Sabha seat is open for the general category.
The Congress has fielded Pramila Singh from Shahdol against BJP's Himadri Singh, who quit the Gandhi-led outfit in the run-up to the polls to join the saffon outfit.
The Election Commission has approved re-polling in 12 booths of Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency, where the voting process was disrupted or stalled during the second phase on 18 April.
Noting that the polling undertaken in these 12 booths has been declared "void" by the EC, Chief Electoral Officer PK Singh said Monday, 22 April fresh elections will be held on 24 April amid enhanced security arrangements.
He asked the polling agents to take necessary measures to ensure free and fair polls.

The Congress Sunday announced candidates for five Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, fielding party heavyweight and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda from Sonipat and replacing Faridabad candidate Lalit Nagar with Avtar Singh Bhadana.
Mr Nagar, who was dropped as Faridabad candidate, is said to be close to former Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, sources said.
With the announcement of the new list, the party has declared candidates for all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.
When asked to comment on his candidature, Mr Hooda, who is a four-time MLA and has remained Lok Sabha MP on four occasions in the past, said he respects the party's decision to field him from Sonipat.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday 21 April, hit out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, saying that his real name is Rahul Vincy, while addressing a rally in Kanpur rural area.
"Rahul Gandhi's real name is Rahul Vincy. The Congress party is cheating people by hiding the real names of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra," the UP CM said.
A bomb was hurled at the vehicle of BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Bhubaneswar-Central, Jagannath Pradhan, near the party office in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Sunday night. BJP leaders have met Election Commission officials, demanding an investigation into the incident.
