The Election Commission has handed West Bengal's BJP chief and Lok Sabha candidate Dilip Ghosh a show cause notice for threatening to take off the trousers of a poll panel who had removed a Ram Navami hoarding containing his poster.
"We have taken notice of his comment. He has been served a show cause notice," an Election Commission official told reporters in Kolkata, reported IANS.
Ghosh, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Medinipur constituency, was angered after a hoarding in Paschim Medinipur district was removed. The hoarding was violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which is why the Election Commission official had taken it off.
