Congress' candidate from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, Digvijay Singh, on Saturday 27 April took a dig at his opponent in Bhopal, Pragya Thakur saying that had she cursed Masood Azhar instead of 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare, we wouldn't have needed surgical strikes, news agency ANI reported.

Addressing a rally in Bhopal’s Ashoka Gardens, Singh said there would have been no need of surgical strikes had Thakur cursed Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar.

Singh also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that PM had said that terrorists were hunted even when they were hiding in hell, but went on to ask the PM that where was he when Pulwama, Pathankot and Uri attacks happened in the country.

“Why were we not able to get rid of these attacks?”

Further, DIgvijay also said that Hindu, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians are all brothers, and accused the BJP of hurting religious sentiments.

“In our religion, we say ‘Har Har Mahadev’, but out religious sentiments have been hurt by the BJP as they are doing ‘Har Har Modi’.”

The Madhya Pradesh capital goes to vote on 12 May.
