Compared to 2015, the voting percentage for the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections saw a considerable decline. On the day of voting, that is, on 8 February, 42.20 percent voter turnout was recorded till 4 pm. While a spike of only two percent votes (44.33 percent) was recorded till 5 pm.
The final voter turnout recorded at 6 pm was 54.65 percent, however, the Election Commission in a press conference on 9 February, stated that a total of 62.59 percent votes were counted, the day after voting.
According to the data provided by the EC, there was a 18 percent hike recorded post 5 pm on 8 February.
While everyone was waiting for the final numbers to be announced by the Election Commission, the poll body failed to come out with the total votes polled even after 24 hours of the deadline of election day voting.
The results will be announced on 11 February.
In the 2015 Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party had won the Delhi election with a massive majority. Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the party won 67 seats out of 70.
While the BJP got success in 3 seats and Congress went empty-handed. Just like the Delhi Election 2015, Kejriwal is the chief minister candidate in the Delhi Assembly elections of 2020 for AAP.
