Meira Kumar, Sharad Yadav & Misa in Cong-RJD’s List for 2019 Polls

While RJD will contest in 19 seats, Congress will fight from nine Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

The Bihar mahagathbandhan on Friday, 29 March, released seat-sharing agreement for the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Announcing the agreement, RJD leader and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav said that his party will contest from 19 seats, Congress will fight from nine seats. While RLSP has been allotted 5 seats, other alliance partners including HAM(S) and CPI(ML) have been allotted seven seats together.

The Congress later announced the nomination of former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar from Bihar's Sasaram and its sitting MP Ranjet Ranjan from Supaul in Bihar. Kumar lost the Sasaram seat during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the Patna Sahib seat, amid buzz that former BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha would be fielded from the seat.

RJD Nominees

Lalu Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti, who lost the Pataliputra constituency in 2014, will fight again from the same seat.

Former JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, will be contesting on RJD ticket from Madhepura. Yadav has been elected to Lok Sabha seven times and to Rajya Sabha thrice from Nitish Kumar’s party. He was the national president of Janata Dal since its formation until 2016, when Kumar decided to ally with NDA.

Interestingly, RJD’s Tanveer Hasan will take on former JNU Student Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and BJP leader and Union minister Giriraj Singh from Begusarai.
