The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, 21 April, announced that Union Ministers Dr Harsh Vardhan and Hardeep Puri will contest from Delhi’s Chandni Chowk and Punjab’s Amritsar respectively.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Captain Amarinder Singh of the Congress defeated the now Union Minister Arun Jaitley from the Amritsar seat.
The latest list which includes seven new candidates also includes Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari, who will contest from the city’s North East constituency, Ramesh Bidhuri who will fight from South Delhi and Pravesh Verma from West Delhi.
With this, the party has announced candidates for four of the seven seats in the national capital.
The BJP has decided to field Shankar Lalwani in Indore seat – which was previously held by outgoing Lok Sabha Speaker and eight-time MP Sumitra Mahajan.
