After getting a taste of broadway with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, India is in for another stage show treat. Aladdin, another age old Disney classic, will be on stage in the summer of 2018. The thrilling new production promises to be a breathtaking spectacle, that will be executed here through a licensing model. An audition call for talent from across the country is already doing the rounds for the much awaited Indian production.
Originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the show features music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act, Little Shop of Horrors), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida).
In 2015, Disney India’s locally produced Beauty and the Beast stage musical started a revolution in the Indian live entertainment industry, by enchanting audiences with the first ever Broadway-style musical. The show mesmerised families in Season I (2015) and Season II (2016) with a fabulous local cast, stunning sets and breathtaking performances, making it a must watch.
