India reported less than three lakh new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 25 January. India's tally of 2,55,874 new cases on Tuesday is 50,190 less than Monday's figure.
In Kerala, 55,475 new COVID cases were detected in a period of 24 hours, and the state's positivity rate was calculated to be 49.40%. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 6,570 fresh coronavirus cases, the highest single-day spike since pandemic began.
The country also reported 614 deaths and 2,67, 753 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The active caseload in India currently stands at 22,36,842, with the daily positivity rate being at 15.52%.

India on Tuesday, 25 January, reported 2,55,874 new coronavirus cases, which was 16.39 per cent lower than Monday's 3.06 lakh cases.
The positivity rate in the country also dipped from 20.75% on Monday to 15.52% on Tuesday. The country also reported 614 deaths and 2,67,753 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
India's active caseload stands at 22,36,842.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, 25 January, said the reduction in the COVID-19 positivity rate in the national capital was due to the consistent pace of vaccination.
"COVID positivity rate has reduced by 20% in the span of last 10 days. Today it's about 10%, opposed to 30% positivity rate on January 15. All of this is because of the consistent pace of vaccination," he said.
Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal on Tuesday said on the sidelines of a Republic Day event that the Delhi government would soon try to do away with the COVID-19 restrictions.
"Soon we will try to do away with (COVID) restrictions and bring your life back to normalcy...will make all efforts in that direction," he said.
His comments came a week after traders in the national capital met him and requested that weekend curfews and odd-even opening of shops be lifted.
Former India cricketer and BJP MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday, 25 January, said he has tested positive for COVID-19.
"After experiencing mild symptoms, I tested positive for COVID today. Requesting everyone who came into my contact to get themselves tested," the cricketer-turned-politician tweeted.
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed public health preparedness to COVID-19 and vaccination progress in nine states and union territories, and urged them to focus on tele-consultation like eSanjeevani, and efficient monitoring of those in home isolation, ANI reported.
Kerala reported a high of 55,475 new COVID cases and 70 deaths in the last 24 hours as the positivity rate surged at 49.40%. Active cases in the state stand at 2,85,365.
Delhi detects 6,028 COVID new cases 9,127 recoveries, and 31 deaths in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the national capital stands at 42,010 and the positivity rate is 10.55%.
Mumbai reports 1,815 new COVID-29 cases, 753 recoveries and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the city stand at 22,185.
Gujarat reported 16,608 new COVID cases, 17,467 recoveries, and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the state are currently 1,34,261.
Karnataka reports 41,400 new COVID-19 cases, 53,093 recoveries, and 52 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases stand at 3,50,742.
West Bengal records 4,494 new COVID19 cases and 36 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases stand at 80,168. The positivity rate is at 7.12%.
Maharashtra reported 33,914 new COVID cases, 30,500 recoveries, and 86 deaths today. Active cases in the state stand at 3,02,923.
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 6,570 fresh coronavirus cases – the highest single-day spike since pandemic began, taking the infection caseload to 4,09,166. The region logged in 14 new deaths. Active case count in J&K stands at 47,376.
Tamil Nadu reported 30,055 fresh COVID cases, 25,221 recoveries, and 48 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the state stand at 2,11,270.
