Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has announced complete lockdown in 18 Gram Panchayats till 21 June, in view of the surge in COVID cases.
In a statement, the WHO said the G7 countries have reaffirmed their support for COVAX, a WHO-led international campaign for equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines globally, as "the primary route for providing vaccines to the poorest countries", Xinhua news agency reported.
While welcoming the G7's commitment, COVAX partners have also called for their continued support for exporting the vaccines in significant proportions, promotion of voluntary licensing and not-for-profit global production.

According to Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 9,73,158 active cases across the country, while 2,81,62,947 patients have been discharged so far, with 1,19,501 discharges reported in the last 24 hours.
AIIMS Delhi will start recruitment for clinical trials from Tuesday onwards for children in the age group of 6-12 and 2-6 age group after that. The trial for the 6-12 age group will start from tomorrow.

"All government offices will function with 25 percent strength. Private and corporate offices will remain open from 10 am to 4 pm with not more than 25 percent strength... Sports activities can resume without spectators," the CM said.
Educational institutes will remain closed. and movement of people will be restricted between 9 pm and 5 am, she added.
