India’s total COVID-19 recoveries cross 14.2 lakhs as recovery rate continues to improve, stands at 68.32%, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported on Saturday, 8 August. National case-fatality rate has further dipped to 2.04%, said the ministry, according to ANI.

Centre Directs States to Focus All Efforts on Reducing COVID-19 Mortality
According to the PIB, Centre has directed the States to focus all efforts on reducing COVID-19 mortality. The Government has said that states “reporting high COVID deaths need optimal utilisation of resources to improve clinical management.”
The circular pointed out that the Case Fatality Rate presently stands at 2.04% and said, “Coordinated, graded and pro-active management of COVID-19 by the Union and State/UT governments has ensured the national Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is on the slide”. It further added:
Smaller Places of Worship Can Reopen: Tamil Nadu Govt
Tamil Nadu government has announced that smaller places of worship within the city corporation limits across Tamil Nadu can reopen for the public.
Small places of worship in rural areas were already permitted to reopen.
Temples, churches and mosques that earn an annual revenue of less than Rs 10,000, subject to approval of the respective district collectors can open from Monday.

1404 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Delhi
1404 COVID-19 case were reported in Delhi on Saturday, 8 August. 16 deaths were also reported, and the total number of those recovered, were discharged or migrated stands at 1130.
