The 28-year-old Mo Boucher (the moniker he’s chosen in his musical career) aka Mudassir Ahmed is from Hyderabad, but currently works in the UAE. What’s amazing is that he’s been writing songs and making music since he was 14-years-old.
So what’s the reason behind his rebellious lyrics?
“I never liked what was taught to me by the so-called scholars of my religion. My relatives hated me because I enjoyed making music. In fact, many thought I was heretic. My life revolved around music,” said Ahmed to The Quint via email.
Here are the Bol to his rap, Depression:
Zindagi sirf ek aazmaish
Chhod de mujhko wapas kyuki azadi hai jayaz
Hai khanjar peeth pe mere, dil mein sarzameen-e-hind
Zubaan pe kalma, jism ka zarra zarra numb
Kalam ke zor se hua khatam tera ghamand
Mera wujood abhi hai sirf uski hifazat mein
Ghut ghut ke jeena seekha mai is chaar diwari mein bandh
Gawahi mai du? Tu meri parchayi ki sun
Kiski sifarish hu mai? Kiski kahani mein gum?
Meri rawani sun zubani ab tabahi mein dum
Meri nazar na hogi bandh gira lo chahe laakho parde
Jab karega paar usey, tabhi hogi fateh
Khuda ke samne sar jhukale
Maaafi mangle gidgidake, takbir ki awaaz uthale
Tu kyu hai gafil, hai kyu shamil
In gunaho se tujhe na hoga kuch bhi hasil, tu jahil
Rahega pareshaniyo mein muktela
Jab tak sahega zehmat, tab tak chalta rahega silsila
Awaaz uthale
Insaniyat ke liye misal banale
