Nobody understands the contemporary idiom better than him. And when he teams up with Vishal Bhardwaj – who celebrates his birthday today – magic happens. Gulzar and Bhardwaj have worked on many projects together and have imbued Bollywood music with a distinct poetic sensibility that draws on the vocabulary and elements of everyday existence.
In this video, Gulzar shares how, at the behest of Bhardwaj, he ended up giving us a modernised version of his timeless classic Mera kucchh saaman from ‘Ijaazat’.
