Protests over the inauguration and presidency of Donald Trump began on Thursday night and the police had to resort to using pepper spray on protestors in Washington.
Hundreds of protestors gathered outside the National Press Club where a pro-Trump event billed as Deploraball was taking place, NBC reported. They set off smoke devices in the middle of the crowd and the police had to block the entrance to the dinner.
Slogans like "Nazi scum" were being shouted at people entering the dinner.
Demonstrators even burned a Trump hat and they displayed an inflated elephant, symbol of the Republican party, with the word "racism" on it.
