A three-storey building collapsed in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon, killing five persons and injuring several others, civic officials said.
Eight persons were pulled out from under the debris of the collapsed building in Kamathipura area of Grant Road, which caved in at around 2 pm, a Fire Brigade official said.
However, five of the injured succumbed to injures and the condition of the other three injured are said to be critical.
Ten fire engines and three ambulances were pressed into rescue operation, the official said. The fire officials have also issued an alert about the adjoining structure that needs to be demolished before another tragedy befalls the residents.
