Crowds of Turkish citizens took to the streets in several areas amid the attempted coup in Turkey on 16 July, and climbed on vehicles waving Turkish flags.

People marched to Ataturk Airport carrying banners and flags. The footage of chaotic scenes below was live streamed from outside the airport.

This footage, which was live streamed, shows large crowds waving flags in the city of Yozgat, during the attempted military coup. A huge banner of the President can also be seen hurled from a building.

Soldiers stormed the offices of CNN TÜRK during the coup on Saturday morning. Staff were made to leave the building.The studios of other media outlets were also raided.

The renegade soldiers were detained by the crowds. This footage is from CNN TÜRK, where few soldiers are being led away.

Gunfire and explosions continued on Saturday morning, after the attempted coup took place across the country. This video shows the situation on a road in Turkey’s capital city, Ankara.

The coup attempt was suppressed. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appeared on CNN TÜRK via Facetime to say the coup would be thwarted and those responsible would be punished.
