After years of waiting, the fans of the iconic American muscle car can now rejoice in India.
Ford is finally bringing the Mustang to India. Debuting ahead of the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 and set to hit Indian showrooms later this year, the new Mustang will bring Ford’s iconic pony car to India’s roads.
Throughout its long history, the Ford Mustang has been a symbol of optimism and confidence for people all over the world. The new Mustang is a modern interpretation of the American icon, and we are thrilled to be giving our customers in India the opportunity to experience this piece of automotive history for the first time.Nigel Harris, President, Ford India
Since the Mustang first went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than 9 million vehicles worldwide. It’s also one of the most-liked vehicles on Facebook. And after so many speculations the company has finally given in to the demands of Indian performance car lovers.
The new Ford Mustang comes equipped with a throaty 5.0-liter V8 engine that yields more than 420 horsepower and 529 Nm of torque. The car will also be equiped with Ford’s SYNC connectivity system, a navigation system, push-button start, passive entry, power folding mirrors, and a rear camera as standard equipment.
There will also be Selectable Drive Modes (SDM), to allow drivers and owners to toggle easily between normal, snow/wet, sport and track modes to quickly adjust steering effort, engine response, and transmission and electronic stability control settings.
The only thing the company hasn’t announced is the price. In the US you can get your hands on one for as low as $25,000, so expect Ford to price this car in India at around Rs 50 lakh including all duties and taxes.
Another interesting thing about the Mustang is that it’s a guzzler, so make sure that your pockets run deep if you plan to pick one of these in 2016.
