Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has announced the recall of 90,210 units of the City sedan and the Mobilio multi-purpose model due to a safety issue. The company has to replace the fuel return pipe, which brings unspent fuel back to the fuel tank, in all the recalled vehicles.

The Quint explains what the recall means and what happens to the affected vehicles.

How Many Cars Are Being Recalled?

If you are an owner of a petrol variant of the Honda City or Honda Mobilio, you have nothing to worry about as only diesel variants are affected. The cars being recalled include 64,428 Honda City models manufactured from December 2013 to July 2015 and 25,782 units of Honda Mobilio models manufactured from June 2014 to July 2015.

What Is The Problem?

There is a possibility that in some of these cars, the fuel return pipe may detach, resulting in fuel leakage and leading to unexpected engine stoppage.
