The 2016 Auto Expo in India will start from February 5 and according to the organisers, the event promises to be bigger and better, with over 6 lakh visitors expected.
The five-day event is being jointly organised by the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), ACMA (Automotive Components Manufacturers Association) and the Confederation of Indian Industry.
The 2016 Expo will simultaneously be held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, near Delhi, and at the Pragati Maidan in the heart of the capital (for component makers).
The 2014 Auto Expo in India had seen an average footfall of over 1.25 lakh visitors a day, making it the largest Expo in the world, SIAM director general Sugato Sen told PTI.
The exhibition space has been increased to 68,000 square metres, almost double the space allotted in 2014. Auto makers and manufacturers will have an additional carpet area of 37,250 square metres, which is spread across six new halls taking the total number of exhibition halls to 14.
The organisers of the 2016 Expo also said that two parking lots will be able to accommodate 10,000 cars and the venue will have six entry and exit gates.
The number of exhibitors participating has already crossed 65, as compared to the 55 exhibitors in the 2014 edition. Sen also said that the 2016 edition of the expo will have new auto brands such as Abarth, BMW MotorRad, Chrysler Jeep, DSK Benelli, Indian Motorcycles and Polaris among others.
