The record for achieving maximum speed in a 1/2 mile stretch (0.8 km) has been broken in Texas. It was broken by a Lamborghini Huracan, which was modified by Underground Racing.
The record for the fastest production car in the world is still held by the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, which produces over 1,000 horsepower.
The Huracan was given Twin-Turbo chargers which helped it to produce four times its usual power. The stock 7-speed transmission system could not keep up with it and had to be replaced by a sequential gearbox.
The result was that the Lamborghini managed to break the half-mile world record by achieving a speed of 238.6 mph (383 km/h) at the WannaGOFAST event in Texas.
