Everyone likes the Apple Watch but many do not wish to spend Rs 34,000 for a watch that works only with the iPhone. Especially now that Samsung has brought us a smartwatch that works with both Android and iOS devices.

Yes, we’re talking about the Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic which have been finally announced for the Indian market. Priced at Rs 24,300 and Rs 25,800 respectively, the smartwatches will be sold online in the country.

The Gear S2 falls in direct competition with the Apple Watch, the Motorola Moto 360, FitBit Blaze and the recently announced Titan JUXT.

While Gear S2 is an old product, the Gear S2 Classic can be seen as the refined version of the original Gear S2 that is said to offer a style quotient to users much akin to the Motorola Moto 360 (2015).

Key Features: Samsung Gear S2 & Gear S2 Classic

  • 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display
  • Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G connectivity options
  • 512MB RAM
  • Powered by Tizen OS
  • Smartwatch round-shaped dial for control
  • 250mAh battery which claims to last 2 to 3 days
  • Water resistant via IP68 grading

The Gear S2 series works with phones like Xiaomi Mi 4, Asus Zenfone 2 and Sony Xperia Z3 among others. We’ve repeatedly stated the position of wearable products in the country and even though Samsung has managed to win the price battle against the Apple Watch, we’re not sure if people really feel the need to spend anywhere close to 24K on a smartwatch just yet.
