Google’s New Logo Actually Makes a Statement

Google has made the change for the first time since 1999. Beyond the font and the twisted ‘e’ is a larger point.

For the first time since 1999, Google has changed its logo to pick a sans serif font and a little twisted ‘e’.

Many parts of the world woke up to the new Google with the first glimpse right there on its doodle.

This is probably the first most visible change since Google was made a wholly-owned subsidiary of a new parent company Alphabet Inc and Indian-born Sundar Pichai was appointed the CEO of the re-organised Google.

This is What its All About

  • Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years-from the range of our products to the evolution of their look and feel. And today we’re changing things up once again.
  • Once upon a time, Google was one destination that you reached from one device: a desktop PC. These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices-sometimes all in a single day.
  • You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop!
  • Today we’re introducing a new logo and identity that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens.

What Has Changed?

As Google puts it in the blog, the new ‘G’ is meant for all kinds of devices: be it a desktop, laptop, tab or a phone. The multicolour G, speech elements and micare a few inclusions in this look.

Google also released a video with the journey of the search engine giant over the years: what it has accomplished and what it is looking forward to.

But Google’s not the only one, Facebook too underwent a logo change for smartphones in July this year, the first time since its launch in 2005. Guess 2015 is a pretty big year for the internet user.
