The third and final version of the Android M developer preview was also released, alongside the Android 6.0 SDK. The final Android 6.0 SDK is now available to download via the SDK Manager in Android Studio.

What’s New on The Update?

  • Final Permissions User Interface — the permissions user interface has been updated while some of the permissions behaviour has been enhanced.
  • Updates to the Fingerprint API — this enables better error reporting, better fingerprint enrolment experience, plus enumeration support for greater reliability.

Users can download the developers preview of Android M on their Nexus devices right now, but this is not the final version.

Therefore, fair warning – bugs and app crashes might habitually plague your smartphone if you’re not the waiting and watching kind. The right thing to do? Wait for Google to officially roll out the update for consumers which will happen later this year.
