Lenovo-owned Motorola Mobility introduced the new Moto E (Gen 2) smartphone in the Indian market at a press event in New Delhi. Like its previous devices, Motorola continues its partnership with e-retailer Flipkart, which will be the exclusive retailer for the new Moto E as well.

According to Motorola, the Moto E (Gen 2) is priced at Rs. 6,999. The company is offering the dual-SIM 3G variant right now, which will go on sale starting midnight, Thursday, in black and white. The 4G version will also be coming to India, but Motorola hasn’t given a specific time-frame, reports PTI quoting a source from the firm.

According to the phone specs available on the company’s website, the second generation of the Moto E sports a 4.5-inch qHD (960x540p) IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. The phone also packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 2390 mAh battery. On the imaging front, Motorola has included a 5MP f2.2 rear camera and a VGA front shooter in the phone.

Among other specifications, you will get Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS (A-GPS), Glonass, water-resistant nano-coating and 3G support. The Moto E (Gen 2) runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with the company’s software enhancements like Moto Assist, Quick Capture, and more.

While the company supplemented the last-generation of Moto E with back covers, it is providing removable bands in this generation which make gripping a lot more easier, with no danger of slipping out of the hand.

Motorola states that the consumers can customize the new Moto E design to their liking by swapping the existing Black or White bands with any one of the six colourful bands that will be released by the company up ahead.
