Anandiben Patel has offered to resign from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat. She took to Facebook to explain the reason she wanted to discontinue.
As Chief Minister of Gujarat she has been receiving a lot of flak, with all the controversies that have engulfed the state. Patel already faced an uphill task of succeeding Narendra Modi in the region, but the in-party fighting and the mass criticism against her made her preempt that she might be removed.
There has been a tradition in the party that those who reach the age of 75, voluntarily retire from their posts. I will attain the age of 75 in November. This tradition is a good thing and it will give a chance to young leaders to come up.Anandiben Patel in her resignation letter
