Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu confirmed on Tuesday that he has quit the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). She also said that after quitting the BJP, the only option left for him was to join the Aam Aadmi Party.
On Monday, Sidhu also quit as the Rajya Sabha MP. “When he (Navjot Singh Sidhu) has resigned from Rajya Sabha, it only has one meaning: that he has resigned from BJP as well,” she said.
The cricketer-turned-politician had on Monday resigned from the Rajya Sabha, just three months after his nomination by the Narendra Modi government, even as the Aam Aadmi Party gave indications that he may be made the party’s face in the Assembly elections in Punjab early next year. Kaur said she was yet to decide her future plans.
The former cricketer will reportedly join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, member of the Punjab Assembly as a BJP member, has not quit the party.
