- The Gujarat High Court on Friday granted bail to Patidar agitation spearhead Hardik Patel in two sedition cases on the condition that he will stay outside the state for six months.
- The 23-year-old, who has been behind bars for over 200 days, will however not be released soon since he has been charged with other crimes where he has not been given bail.
- These cases were filed in connection with the violence during the quota agitation.
- This was in response to fears expressed by the Gujarat government counsel that freeing Hardik Patel would put law and order in the state at risk.
