Sonu, the 12-year-old Indian boy who was kidnapped and taken to Bangladesh, returned to India on Thursday, as promised by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Sonu arrived at the Delhi airport with his father Mehboob, who thanked External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Sonu was found in a shelter home in Bangladesh six years after he was abducted, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had tweeted on Tuesday. A man from Bangladesh’s Jessore region had contacted Sonu’s family and shared details about the whereabouts of the boy.
His DNA was matched with his parents’ back home. After the test result was declared positive, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka had taken custody of the boy.
