CBI Searches Residences of Two Accused in Dabholkar Murder Case

The CBI found incriminating evidence against Virender Singh Tawde and Sarang Akolkar in the Dabholkar murder case.

• The CBI questioned Virender Singh Tawde and Sarang Akolkar in its ongoing investigation into the murder of Maharashtra anti-superstition activist and rationalist, Narendra Dabholkar.
  
  
• While the former is a doctor and member of rightwing Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, the latter is an alleged Sanatan Sanstha member.
  
  
• The agency searched Akolkar’s residence in Pune on Wednesday and Tawde’s in Panvel near Mumbai on Thursday.
  
  

• It had also recovered some material, and “cyber forensic evidence”, during its earlier searches. A Red Corner Notice was issued in 2012 against Goa blast accused Sarang Akolkar on the NIA’s request.
