It’s just days before Narendra Modi’s two-year anniversary at office — and the tech-savvy Prime Minister has achieved a rare feat among Indian politicians.
Last week, his Twitter following surpassed a mammoth 20 million people. Such huge following in India’s Twitter universe is reserved for mostly Bollywood stars and a few cricketers.
Modi’s fan-following has grown five times – from 4 million to over 20 million – since he was elected India’s Prime Minister two years ago.
Now, as it stands, he is the second-most followed Indian on Twitter. Except Amitabh Bachchan, his growing army has overtaken many of the Bollywood celebrities and athletes.
Among the most influential world leaders, Modi figures among the most followed on Twitter. His foreign visits, diplomacy tactics and business deals have all probably helped to make him one of the most popular leaders of a country on Twitter.
After US President Barack Obama, Modi is seemingly the most followed politician in the world.
Modi has used his Twitter account to share his policies, news, congratulatory messages, birthday wishes and selfies. It’s the range that’s made the Prime Minister so well-known out there.
