The Mumbai police have identified 15 ‘dangerous’ selfie spots across the city after an 18-year-old woman drowned in the Arabian Sea while taking a photo of her friends and herself, last week.
The spots include the iconic sea-facing Marine Drive promenade and the popular Girgaum Chowpatty beach, both major tourist attractions, the BBC reported.
Dhananjay Kulkarni, Mumbai police spokesperson told the BBC that the places where taking selfies was risky included Bandra Bandstand, Sion Fort and Worli Fort.
The police will now approach the city’s municipality to prevent accidents at such spots due to people taking selfies. The municipality may deploy lifeguards and install warning signs.
However, violators will not be fined, NDTV reported.
