The Gatimaan Express, India’s fastest train, has completed its last trial and is all set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi sometime next month.

After two successful tests were carried out, the Gatimaan Express will now surpass the New Delhi-Habibganj Shatabdi Express, formerly India’s fastest train.

1. Super Speed!

The Gatimaan Express will run at the speed of 160 km per hour. Our Indian railways have clearly picked up pace.

2. Time Travel

The train has an expected travel time of 105 minutes to cover the 200 km journey from Delhi to Agra.

The fare of the new train service will be 25% more than the normal fare of the Shatabdi Express. Now that will be an expensive ride, eh?

5. Choose Your Coach

The Gatimaan Express will have an Executive Class, a Chair Car category of seats as well as a catering facility. So choose your coach in accordance with the depth of your wallet!

6. Luxury Ride

An eight inch LCD will be fixed behind each seat of the Gatimaan Express. This should help you catch up on whatever you’re missing while on the move.

7. Attention to Detail

To attain high speed, the tracks on the Delhi-Agra route have been fenced off at certain places. The signalling system has also been upgraded.

8. The Extras

Extra advanced facilities like an automatic fire alarm, emergency braking system along with the passenger information system and sliding doors inside the coaches will be some of the features on the train. Want more?

9. Power Pull

The Gatimaan Express will be pulled by a 5,400 HP (Horse Power) electric locomotive engine. Speed shall evidently be well supplemented with power.

After its initial implementation, the Indian Railways has planned to launch the semi high-speed train service on nine more routes including Kanpur-Delhi, Hyderabad-Chennai, Goa-Mumbai, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Nagpur-Secunderabad and Chandigarh-Delhi. So plan your holidays people!
