Two mobile phones, a laptop, handwritten notes , alleged gifts and 6000 SMS and WhatsApp messages - the evidence seems to be stacking up against Dr Pachauri in the sexual harassment case. This evidence was handed over by the complainant to the Delhi Police on Tuesday evening, according to an ET report. The victim has kept a record (videographed and photos) of the evidence comprising the messages and emails.
The complainant, a research analyst, cited at least six alleged instances of harassment by Pachauri. She has alleged that he had sexually harassed her for nearly two years since she joined the organisation in September 2013. These were recounted in a statement to a magistrate by the 29-year-old in addition to evidence she submitted to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of The Energy and Resources Institute and the Delhi Police.
The police is now likely to question Pachauri on the evidence.
The FIR filed on February 13 by the complainant include charges under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354 D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
A Delhi court has protected Pachauri from arrest till March 27, while restraining him from entering TERI, contacting the complainant or witnesses in the case or leaving the country without prior permission of the court, the ET report went on to add.
