Sushma Swaraj Asks VK Singh to Meet Protesting African Students

Swaraj has also asked Indian envoys abroad to ensure the safety of the many Indians living abroad.

On Sunday, Sushma Swaraj asked Minister of State, General VK Singh and Secretary Amar Sinha to meet African students protesting at Jantar Mantar.

She also said that she had spoken to both Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Lt Governor Delhi Najeeb Jung. They assured her that those responsible for the recent attacks on African nationals would be nabbed. They also promised to conduct ‘sensitisation’ campaigns in areas where African nationals reside.

In a seperate incident, Olivier, a Congolese national was murdered in Delhi in a fight over an auto-rickshaw by a group of men.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday said that they would not only assist Masunda Olivier’s family to travel to India to receive his mortal remains but also make sure his remains reach Congo at their expense.
