- Delhi Court sent Home Ministry Under Secretary Anand Joshi to 5-day custody on 16 May for allegedly issuing FCRA notices to several NGOs for financial gains.
- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will produce Joshi, in court on Monday. He was arrested on Sunday night, four days after he suddenly disappeared, on corruption charges.
- Joshi had allegedly given unconvincing answers to the questions posed by a team of the special crime division of the CBI, including those related to disappearance of files related to Sabrang Trust of activist Teesta Setalvad.
- On Wednesday morning, Joshi had disappeared from his home in Indrapuram in Ghaziabad. He was picked up from Tilak Nagar area of West Delhi and taken to the CBI headquarters for questioning.

- Joshi was recently posted in the foreigners division and had access to files related to Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. He had been under scanner for several months and was reported to the CBI after it was confirmed that he was taking bribes to favour certain NGOs.
- He was also allegedly behind some files related to Teesta Setalvad’s NGO Sabrang Trust suddenly going missing from the ministry a few months back. The files were later traced to the officer and restored.
