Lawyers at the Patiala House Court attacked journalists and JNU supporters, seriously injuring a few on Monday afternoon. The inaction of police in the incident despite being present in 100s, according to one of the reporters who was attacked, is questionable.
According to one of the journalists, the incident was triggered by a miscreant who came to the court with a group of people; some of them in black coats. The unidentified person screamed slogans against JNU students and faculty members before the local lawyers joined him in attacking the JNU supporters and the reporters who were present.
However, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi has called it a minor incident and defended the police inaction in the incident while speaking to NDTV.
