Bihar Vice-President for Bharatiya Janata Party, Visheshwar Ojha, was shot dead in Arrah city of Bhojpur district in Bihar. The identity of the gunman is unknown at the time. Two other people were also injured during the firing.

Earlier today, another BJP leader Kedarnath Singh was shot dead in Chhapra.

One of the largest states of the country, Bihar holds a strong Assembly of 243 seats. According to this article 60% candidates for the last Assembly elections in Bihar had a string of “heinous” cases against them in court: murder, extortion, kidnapping, robbery and dacoity and crimes against women, including rape. Denying ticket to sitting MLA Munni Devi in Shahpur, BJP fielded Visheshwar Ojha, resulting in great resentment among her supporters. Ojha was granted a ticket even 16 cases against him – 10 of them for attempt to murder.

Lok Janshakti Party Leader Chirag Paswan said that the law and order has completely failed in Bihar, a streak of political killings has started in the state. If the Chief Minister does’t answer, he added, imposing President’s rule will be the only option left for the state.
