Popular actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who starred in the long-running television series Balika Vadhu, on Monday, approached the police alleging that eight persons, who she claimed were dressed as policemen, molested her at her residence in suburban Mumbai.
Pratyusha filed an FIR in Kandivali police station on Monday, and alleged “Eight policemen tried barging into my house and misbehaved with me”.
Pratyusha alleged in her complaint that the men barged into her flat in Laljipada and left only after she threatened to approach the Kandivali police.
However, a police officer denied the allegation saying four policemen in plain clothes had gone to the actress’ flat on Tuesday to trace her fiance Rahul Raj Singh who stays with her and against whom a non-cognisable (NC) offence has been registered.
The couple was last seen together in a reality show Power Couple.
The officer denied that the police personnel who had visited her house had misbehaved with the actress. According to the officer, Pratyusha’s fiance Rahul had allegedly manhandled a loan recovery agent, Amit Dalvi, when the latter had gone to collect instalment of a car loan from Rahul at her house on 31 December.
Some police personnel, along with Dalvi, went to the house on Sunday but couldn’t find Rahul. They went to her house again on Monday, but were told by Pratyusha’s mother that Rahul was in Goa, following which they returned, the officer said.
