On 5th September 1986, Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked by terrorists and Neerja Bhanot, crew on the flight, was shot and killed while trying to save hundreds of passengers. This piece has been republished in her honour.
While everyone is talking about Neerja Bhanot thanks to Sonam Kapoor’s film Neerja, we thought of getting you all the print ads featuring the braveheart. Most of you growing up in the 80s will now be able to put a name to that face you’ve seen so many times in magazines such as The Illustrated Weekly, Sunday and Women’s Era. From fronting commercials for creams, toothpastes, sarees to kitchenware and banks, Neerja was easily one of the most recognizable faces in the ad world during the time.
