Rajinikanth, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher among Padma Winners

Ajay Devgn, Anupam Kher and others react to their Padma honours

The winners of the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri for the year 2016 was announced by the government on Monday.

While Rajinikanth and media baron Ramoji Rao have been conferred with the Padma Vibhushan, actor Anupam Kher and singer Udit Narayan have been honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Priyanka Chopra, Ajay Devgn and Baahulbali director SS Rajamouli have been awarded the Padma Shri.

On hearing the news Rajinikanth’s daughters Soundarya and Aishwarya, expressed their happiness through tweets:

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn who is busy shooting for his film Shivaay, in Bulgaria, sent out this statement:

I feel deeply humbled yet elated to receive such honor from my own country. This announcement today makes it special for me when I’m filming abroad for my new film Shivaay. I’d like to acknowledge that Padma Samman puts an extra responsibility on me and I promise to serve my country for as long as I can.”
