It goes without saying that Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s birthday is celebrated like a ritual every year by his fans. Unfortunately, it won’t be the same this year as the people of Tamil Nadu are reeling under the worst floods ever to hit the state. Thalaivar, who turns 64 this Saturday, has requested his fans to call off all plans made to ring in his birthday.
“Rajinikanth has personally requested the members of his fan clubs to call off his birthday celebrations. He wants all his fans to join hands and help the rain savaged people in relief work instead. The star feels helping the city of Chennai and its people return to the state of normalcy is more important than investing time and energy to celebrate his birthday. He has also promised to support them in this endeavour,” a source said.
Currently shooting in Goa for Kabali, in which he plays an ageing gangster, the Robot star extended his support to people affected by the incessant rains in Tamil Nadu by donating Rs 10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund recently. It’s also believed that the official announcement regarding Enthiran 2, which was planned to be announced on Rajinikanth’s birthday, is most likely to be deferred.
