Receiving awards is not new for Shah Rukh Khan, but it turns out neither is receiving doctorate degrees – the Baadshah of Bollywood has received his second doctorate degree at the Edinburgh University in Britain.
Earlier, in 2009, an honorary doctorate was conferred upon SRK by the University of Bedfordshire for his contribution to arts and culture.
This time, Dr SRK has been honoured for his outstanding record of philanthropy, altruism and humanitarianism and his global reach as an actor.
The Quint lists out SRK’s philanthropic and humanitarian works.
Helping Other Actors
Every director loves Dr Shah Rukh Khan. They all want to cast him in their films, but SRK is a charitable man and he has rejected some meaty roles only to give some quality work to his counterparts.
Did you know Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted to sign Dr SRK for Munnabhai MBBS? And 3 Idiots was rejected by him only to be signed by Aamir Khan, which is also what happened with Rang De Basanti.
Now, we know why Aamir keeps crying – they’re tears of gratitude.
Taufa Taufa
Dr SRK not only gifts his close friend Farah Khan hit after hit, he also gives her high-end cars. And the choreographer isn’t the only one. The Baadshah pampered Rohit Shetty with a superbike, gifted Sallu Bhai’s sister Arpita an exclusive collection of handbags and, of course, he recently gifted some of his film DVDs to Paulo Coelho.
Hmm. Dr Shah Rukh Khan, would you like to do phraaandship with me?
King of Romance
Dr Shah Rukh ‘Loveria’ Khan knows how to set the mood right. His iconic dialogues have worked wonders for the lovestruck as well as those dealing with broken hearts.
For the well-being of others, the actor selects only those films which will have a greater impact on people’s lives.
