Here’s a glimpse of Imtiaz Ali’s much awaited next, Tamasha. Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor have previously created magic in both Bachna Ae Haseeno and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. And they’re sizzling as a romantic pair in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha too.

Ranbir is a ‘kaam ka maara’ engineer craving for something dramatic. He lands up half way across the world in Corsica, France and meets ‘Mona darling’, an equally dramatic and fun loving Deepika Padukone.

Ranbir’s character Ved, is essentially a storyteller at heart, who grew up believing that all stories are the same. But he wants his story with Tara, played by Deepika Padukone, to be different. So they decide to never tell each other anything true or real about themselves. They travel to an island and decide to never meet once they go back to their worlds. Only, they do. They also make a promise that they won’t cross the line, which is a coded way of saying ‘they won’t fall in love’. But they end up doing just that.

Now comes the interesting conflict. Tara is in love with the madcap Ranbir. Sadly she realises only later that he has a bit of a split personality. What he really is, is a dead serious, boring to death guy stuck in the rat race of a corporate job. The trailer doesn’t quite explain why Ranbir’s character is so confused. But it looks like Imtiaz Ali tells this ordinarily extraordinary story with his signature elan, and that all will fall into place after the film’s release. AR Rahman’s music heightens the drama, the exotic locations and the romance, ever so melodiously. And the lead pair, creates magic with their realistic performances. The film hits theatres on November 27th this year and the wait is going to be an anxious one.
