Popular writer and director Mahmood Farooqui has been arrested by Delhi Police on rape charges. Farooqui has been accused of raping a foreign national in March, as reported by CNN IBN.
An FIR with regard to the alleged incident was lodged earlier this week. A case under IPC’s Section 376 has been registered against the writer-director and he was sent to a 6-day judicial custody.
Farooqui is the husband of Peepli Live director Anusha Rizvi; he’d also written the script for as well co-directed the satirical comedy on the plight of farmers. The film, produced by Aamir Khan, was a huge hit in cinematic circles.
