Toyota makes a hybrid four-wheeler named Prius that works on a hybrid battery as well as a gasoline engine. And now it has been revealed that the Toyota Prius could make its way to the Indian market sometime in 2016.

The all-new Prius was first showcased globally in 2015. According to the company, the new Toyota Prius is said to be based on the New Global Architecture (TNGA) which may or may not result in a series of improvements in the car.

The chassis on the Toyota Prius has become mildly rigid, with a lower centre of gravity that, according to Toyota, will help boost the car’s overall handling and make it stable to deliver comfortable driving.

However, the Toyota Prius packs the same 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder VVT-i gasoline engine. But, Toyota promises improved fuel efficiency. The previous edition of the Toyota Prius was priced at around Rs 40 lakh.

The recent interest from the government towards hybrid and electric vehicles could help Toyota’s case by keeping the price difference at a minimum. Launching sometime this year, it will be interesting to see if car buyers feel comfortable going for a high-end hybrid vehicle that may not get the right set of fuel support.
