Finally, after facing many delays, and amid regular leaks and rumours, the American Motorcycle brand UM Motorcycles enters the Indian market. Bollywood actor Karan Singh Grover unveiled the ‘UM siblings’ at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016.
The brand has launched three models from its internationally successful cruiser range – Renegade. The three models are Renegade Classic, Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S.
The Commando is a low-slung cruiser which has a 279cc single-cylinder engine producing 25bhp of power. It has a six speed transmission. It’ll be available at a price of Rs. 1.59 lakh.
The Renegade Sport S and Classic share the same engine as that of the Commando. Both of them have the same six speed transmission. The two have a fuel tank capacity of 18 litres and weigh 172 kg. They’re priced at Rs. 1.49 lakh and Rs. 1.69 lakh respectively.
The pricing and design are indeed competitive, and might just prove to be the disrupter in the cruiser/tourer segment – a category where the Royal Enfield currently reigns supreme. Time to bite the bullet?
